Masters Message 2009 through 2010 Masonic Year

Brethren,
I am honored, privileged, and blessed to be your Worshipful Master for the 2009-2010 ensuing year. I am excited for my officer line and am confident that together we will make an impact throughout the Lodge and our District.
My vision for 2009-2010 is to bring the family closer to Freemasonry. I would like to accomplish the following within my term:

• Show the immediate family that Freemasonry is a family affair; our very own events, Order of Eastern Star and our Youth Programs can help make this happen.

• Share Masonic degree work and major family events with our district brothers encompassing friendship, morality, and brotherly love.

• Raising and enlightening brothers in our Lodge. Believe, and it will happen!

Because we pride ourselves in our ritual, I ask that every officer; elected or appointed, give his all when assigned his respective parts. Let’s not be bashful, let’s work together so we can all stand up at the end of the year and say “We did it”!
To all of which, I charge all within this Lodge, that you do not forget your family; big or small, this is much too precious.
And last, but not least, COMMUNICATE!!!

I look forward to a great year.

The ritual work was performed by several lodges who came together for this trip.
Not only did the brothers from the facility enjoy themselves but we did as well.

Looking to the South

As Junior Warden I feel it is necessary to speak to a few logistics associated with events. I want to remind you that MasonsOnline is the ideal place to make a reservation for meetings and events. Having a reservation ensures you have a meal
…(continued)
and are accounted for. We do not want to leave anyone out. Please either make your reservations online or contact me directly to do so.
Masonry is so important to me and my life. I am conscious of its tenets and teachings on a day by day basis, and it pushes me to want to do more. I have always felt that there are many layers to Masonry. The fellowship we share is certainly one of these layers. Each one of you brothers means so much to me. It is a joy to come to lodge and something I look forward to. Someone once told me that going to lodge is therapeutic. It is. I look forward to the fellowship we will share at our events coming up.

Looking to the West

The Masonic year is off to a great start. I look forward to the rest of the year. Everyone is doing an outstanding job.
I could not be prouder of the stewards, Paul Hulseapple and Tony Griffin. The First degree went off great, so I cannot wait for the next two degrees. I’m here if any brothers need anything, just reach out to me. Remember to be on the level with yourself, family, and friends.

The Masters Message

My family and I hope when you receive this message all are well. The holidays will soon be upon us and I wish you all and your families the healthiest, most joyous, and memorable times during this holiday season. Please look for the upcoming events.
Let us not forget our Brothers that will not be with us during this time and wish their families a supportive holiday season. I am confident that I can speak for our Lodge when it is said “We’re just a telephone call away”.
I would like to thank all of my Officers for all that they are doing; their attention to detail, keeping up with the ritual, and being there when needed, we will continue to move forward my Brothers.
As a Lodge we have made a few accomplishments;
• St. George’s/Challenger’s Day
•St. George’s Lake George Dinner Cruise
•Assisted Unity Lodge in Saratoga with the Installation of their Officers
•St. George’s 235th Anniversary
•Earned the Pott’s Award
•Earned the Traveling Gavel
•Assisted Lodges in Degree work at the Grand Lecturer’s Convention and with the 1st Degree.
•VW Damon Carr for answering and rising to the call of Assistant Grand Lecturer.
•We Initiated 3 new Brothers in October, getting ready now to Pass 3
Brothers in November, and with the help of the GAOTU, Raising 3 Brothers at our December 3rd Degree. We also affiliated 3 Brothers from other Lodges this past October.
My many thanks to the Brothers who helped make this happen!
•Brother Bring a Friend; 3 potential candidates came to this enjoyable evening. My many thanks to the Brothers who helped make this happen! Don’t forget them, remind them that their presence that evening was greatly appreciated.
•We already received and will be reading another petition at our November 12th meeting for our 1st Degree in January 2010
Let’s continue to offer the light to all we know and bring them to the table so we can help them to the next level.
If you haven’t noticed by now, that I truly love this Lodge and this wonderful Fraternity, then, let’s talk. Every opportunity that I am in an environment that offers the opportunity to speak about us, I proudly engage in it.
I ask that you consider the District Holiday Party, Friday, 4 December 2009; it gives us an opportunity to share this time as a Lodge family and also a bigger opportunity to meet as a District family. I can envision the kids enjoying themselves as well as
the adults. Good food, great music, and a nice group of folks to start off the holiday cheer, it’s the way to go.
My Brothers, there is a lot of this year left and I would like to continue with the momentum that we have; never, ever, forgetting our precious jewels; our family.
I hope this message reaches all, especially those that have not made it to Lodge in a while…Allow me to say this, you are missed! If there is anything that the Brethren and I can do, do not hesitate to bring it to our attention.
Until the next time we meet or communicate.
- Ed Mosso, Worshipful Master

As Historian, what have you found most interesting in your research?

This is a difficult question, though it would seem to many as very direct and easy to answer. I have been the Lodge historian since 1983. Over the course of time I have uncovered and been led to rediscovered many of the artifacts belonging to the Lodge. They were dispersed over a vast area. As we all know a Lodge regards its name and number as a valuable piece of their history. We have had a variety of numbers assigned to us, but our name remained the same. We cannot act without a lawful warrant or charter which leads me to my answer. The most interesting artifact that I came across was a copy of our original dispensation that was given us by Sir John Johnson. I had an opportunity to visit the Livingston Library in Grand Lodge and while going through some of their archives stumbled upon the copy of the document. It is the same document I have been reading at our anniversary meeting in September. I asked to have a copy made so it would be in our archives. This was only one of the warrants that I have ‘recovered’. I will relate the discovery of another in my next installment.
